State coverage needs a state answer
Ask which plan handles your prescription benefit. Then ask whether the exact medicine is covered for the proposed use, rather than asking about all weight medicines together.
A proposed route is not your personal approval
A state’s choice to take part would not guarantee that your own prescription is covered. Ask your state Medicaid program whether it has joined and what its rules mean for you.
Keep the visit and medicine questions together
- Would this telehealth visit be paid for under my plan?
- Would a membership fee be separate?
- Which pharmacy can fill a covered prescription?
- Would any requested lab work need a separate coverage check?
Ask the service to explain any charge before agreeing to it. If there is a fee while a coverage decision is pending, ask for the terms in writing.
If the answer is unclear
Ask what information is missing and who can supply it. Keep the plan’s reply beside the proposed product and treatment purpose. Bring that reply back to the person writing your prescription for the next discussion.
